Day by day

Four days down, three to go! It's becoming a little more real, and I'm starting to panic a little. I'm really ready to get home, especially with her, but there's a lot that needs to happen between now and home. She had an ECG this morning to follow up on the heart murmur she had at birth. Haven't gotten the results yet, but the nurses who listen to her heart everyday say that the murmur is gone. But we want to confirm it before she leaves.
She also had her hearing test, which she passed. And, we got a visit from the occupational therapist, who was there to see of she has any developmental delays. He said she favors her left side, but everything looks great! Next up we have a blood test to make sure everything looks good since the blood transfusions, then probably Thursday she has a car seat test to make sure she can breathe in the car seat for 2 hours.
On top of that, we are signing all of the papers on Thursday. We have the money, but it's literally emptying all of our accounts. We're still waiting on Medicaid to approve the medical bills so we have to pay medical deposits, and we're still being considered for a grant. Please pray for one of the two to come through in the next 2 days. Or that we would have faith that God would provide everything we need.
After we sign the papers on thursday, we're planning on meeting Keragan's birth mother. While I'm extremely curious about a lot of things, I'm also nervous about meeting her. I don't know where the line is between asking hard questions that Keragan will likely ask us in 10 years yet being respectful and not provoking her or asking questions in an unobtrusive way.
If we make it through all of this with no episodes, we'll finally be ready to go home! And then the next round of excitement begins!

  1. It's wonderful that she's doing so well, but it's completely understandable that the next couple days feel very stressful. I'll especially be praying that the meeting with Keragan's mom goes well, that God gives you the words to say and that you'll feel guided by him.
