Growing!

We had our first doctors appointment today! It's kind of funny, considering she just left four days ago after being in the hospital for nine weeks. In the hospital, we had to track everything. When she ate, how much she ate, if she had a wet or dirty diaper, her temp before every feeding, her weight every night, her blood pressure twice a day... I've kept track of how much she eats and when, but that's it. We've been curious about her weight, especially, since we don't have an accurate way to measure her. I was expecting her to level out a little coming home, just because of the changes, but she gained! We brought her home last Thursday at 7 lbs 2 oz, and today she was up to 7 lbs 8 oz! And she's up to 20 inches long... Basically the size of a newborn. She officially can't fit into any of her preemie outfits, and the newborn onesie I put on her tonight is almost too tight. Everyone always comments on how small she is, but I just can't get over how big she's getting!
Everything is going well, except for nights. She eats every four hours, which is great. She fusses from about midnight until 4ish in the morning. It's not screaming, just fussing, unless we hold her. We probably should just let her go, but it's loud enough to keep us up, and it doesn't stop if we leave her alone. Last night I was so exhausted that I took her to bed with me. I said I wouldn't do it, but I realize now why so many people do... Sheer exhaustion. She slept like a baby until troy woke up and noticed her in the bed and freaked out, thinking that I was going to roll over her in my sleep. So, I promised not to do it again. Tonight we're trying music. In the hospital there was always noise, so maybe its the quiet she can't stand? Hopefully.

  1. So glad she's thriving at home! And I know what you mean about exhaustion driving you to do things you hadn't planned on... probably happens to all parents :-).

You know one thing I haven't seen yet? A picture of all three of you together! Next time you have someone else around, ask them to take a picture of your beautiful family!
