Progress

Last week, promptly after writing my blog entry about Kera being better, she woke up with a fever. So after our third trip to the doctor in less than 2 weeks, she was diagnosed with an ear infection. Luckily this was bacterial, so we could get an antibiotic. I was just happy to have something we could actually treat instead of just waiting it out. So after a few more days of fever and misery, I think we're better again. And this time she really seems better. With all of her illnesses in the past month, her appetite has really declined. And she's lost weight. Last week troy and I were really starting to get worried as we could feel and see most of her ribs. Her clothes were getting too big, and her diapers seemed huge on her. But in the past few days that she's been feeling better she's been making up for it. Her appetite has increased so much that it almost worries me. We switched her from formula to milk to see if that helped and it really has. I think she drinks twice as much milk as she did formula. So her face is starting to fill out again and her little belly is fattening up. She had also gotten really picky with what food she ate, but she's back to eating whatever we give her.
On Saturday Kera will be one year old!!! I'm starting to get some things ready, but we're keeping it pretty low key this year because of all of the sickness and the fact that we've had a number of showers and parties this past year. I had some fun with the invitations, see below. I had plans to make one of those giant cupcake cakes, but the trial run was a huge failure. Troy rarely lets me throw any food away, but he actual suggested it this time, so it was probably one of my worst failures. So I'm trying to decide if I should try it again or just stick with a normal boring cake.
I've also made some progress on her play room and I'm really excited about it! I know she probably doesn't care about decorations and colors right now, but I like it, and she loves having her own area that she can do whatever she wants. Lately she's just been crawling around and around from room to room and toy to toy. And she's finally showing interest in books! Hopefully by next week I can post some pictures of the play room.
