Another month has flown by... actually, this whole summer has flown by. I can't believe that Troy goes back to school in three weeks. I had so many plans for this summer, and so few of those plans have been checked off the list. I'm a list person, so having all of these items still on my list gives me anxiety! But, we have three weeks, and I hope to fill them as full as can be.
Keragan did well in the church nursery for a couple of months, but
something changed about two months ago, and she will NOT stay in the
nursery without us. She screams and screams, and I can hear her from
wherever I'm at in the church.
Our church had VBS last week, and Troy and I were heavily involved. I'm not sure what we were thinking when we both agreed to help in ways that would not really allow a 16 month old running around, especially when said 16 month old won't stay in the nursery, but we realized pretty quickly that it was going to be a challenge. My mom came to visit and watched her for the first two nights, but the last three nights were full of chasing her around the church.
Yes, chasing her. She is finally walking! The week before VBS she took her first real steps, but had a lot of problems with keeping her balance, so she literally fell every two or three steps. However, VBS came, and she wanted to be with the big kids. So every chance she got, she would run off to where the kids were, weaving between people and of course smiling at everyone.
Last weekend, while my mom was here, we took her to the county fair. It's a small fair, but there were a good number of animals. We've been to the zoo, but most of the animals were far away. These animals were up close and personal, and she wasn't sure what to think of them. She definitely needs some exposure to farm life!
Tonight we had her pictures taken. I had purchased a package from a local photographer last year, and was planning to use it for her one year shoot, but the photographer went on maternity leave. The package expires next month, so we went ahead and randomly got 17 month photos. :) We had them taken at a park, and I'm pretty excited to see them. She did really well, and even got stung by her first bee! Thankfully she was not allergic, and she actually got over it in about 2 minutes when we distracted her with some flowers.
Adoption home studies expire every two years, so we're in the process of renewing ours. It's not as much paperwork, but it still seems like we're running all over the place to request background checks and appointments. It's crazy to think that some of the other families we were in training with are still waiting for their baby. We certainly were blessed with Keragan, and it's exciting to think about who God will add to our family next!
