I thought with all of the Christmas plans and parties I'd have more updates to post, however I've just been too busy! We've been doing lots if travelling, and I have a feeling that it's not going to end very soon.
Even though last year was Kera's first Christmas, I was more excited about this year because she actually understands more and can participate. And she has, in many ways.
I grew up with Advent, so I have been continuing the tradition. Last year we gave her alphabet magnets, one per day. This year she's obsessed with animals, so we gave her an animal finger puppet each day. She loved coming downstairs each morning and getting her "treat."
We went to a local tree lighting, saw a Christmas parade with huge inflatables, saw Santa numerous times, had a visit from St. Nick, went to my family's ornament party, had her school Christmas party and made cookies. Not to mention the four Christmases we've already had, and the one yet to come.
With everything else going on, she's still growing like crazy. She's had a pretty major growth spurt this month, and she's now reaching all kind of things that are supposed to be out of her reach. She's also talking and singing nonstop. She probably breaks out 2-3 new words per day, and they always catch me off guard.
The gift part of Christmas went way different than I imagined. Kera wasn't all that excited about tearing open the packages. In fact, after the second one, she handed them to me and asked me to open them. At the third Christmas, she wanted to play with one of the gifts. When we tried to get her to open another gift, she actually threw the gift and said "no!" I guess she's more about living in the moment. But she seems pretty happy with her hundred gifts from her five Christmases! It's crazy to think that her birthday is in two months and she'll be getting more stuff....
We've also had lots of fun with family and friends. Kera's been a trooper, playing with new friends and saying hi to anyone who gives her attention. We're blessed that she's such a laid back kid and loves being around people. She always seems to be the life of the party with her appropriately timed comments and facial expressions!
Merry Christmas!!
