Relaxing

Well, that last post was a little depressing!  Fostering has been hard, and there have been a lot of times when I wonder what we were thinking by agreeing to do this, but ultimately I know we're where we're supposed to be.  I'm so grateful for the other foster parents we've gotten to know who encourage and advise regularly, and help me remember why we are doing this.  So it's not all bad, just busy!
Although our calendars are clearing out a bit!  As the girls have been with us for 3 and 5 months now, a lot of the initial assessments and appointments are being completed and other appointments are being consolidated.  One set of parents haven't been showing for visitation, so that's calmed down some of our traveling.  I guess it's the calm before the storm, though, with the holidays coming up.
Baby S originally came to us with a high chance of being eligible for adoption, and we've been on that path for 3 months.  However this week we were told about a new relative who popped up and wants custody.  This isn't unusual, and there's no guarantee that they will be granted custody, but it does mean that we're back in the realm of uncertainty.  Or greater uncertainty.  :)
It's been a fun week, first going to a pumpkin patch/fall fest with cousins and then getting to dress up for Halloween.  Keragan was a butterfly and was very excited about trick or treating.  She did pretty well, other than almost being attacked by a dog twice her size.  The babies dressed up too, J as a lady bug and S as a butterfly as well.  They weren't thrilled with the costumes, and didn't get any candy, but they looked cute!

I'm excited about Christmas, and have been working on gifts and advent.  Keragan has been singing Jingle Bells and wearing her Christmas pajamas. I know it'll be a little more hectic this year with 3 kids, but I'm excited about it!  Keragan has been asking for a skateboard.  We have no idea where she saw or heard of a skateboard, but we took her to the store to see if she knew what she was talking about, and she did! There is no way I'm getting her one, but maybe a scooter.  Maybe.
