Experimenting

I've always had a dislike for science.  I'm not sure why, but I always somehow got out of dissecting frogs, building volcanoes and mixing chemicals.  And in college I managed to trade in biology for astronomy.  But somehow this week has felt like science class, working on a science experiment called "Feeding Kera."  She loves to eat... and she'll eat pretty much anything.  Even though I've tried to introduce new foods slowly, I've gotten into a bad habit of letting her try most of what I eat, and then she thinks it's hers.  I actually lost half of my guacamole from Chipotle to her last week.

However, just because she likes to eat everything, doesn't mean the food likes her.  It's been an interesting game/science experiment of "put something in and see what comes out."  Or doesn't, which generally ends up being the bigger problem. The annoying thing is that sometimes you get immediate results, and other times you don't get results for a day or two.  But it's fun, for the most part.  She seems to like to try everything, which we can only hope continues, and that she's not a picky eater.

We had plans to go out of town this past weekend for our anniversary, however we cancelled.  When we got married, we agreed to always do something to make sure we're setting aside time for each other regardless of what is happening in our crazy lives.  However, we barely saw each other on Wednesday or Thursday due to crazy schedules, and Friday when we finally sat down to talk, we quickly agreed that we were exhausted and decided to cancel our trip.  While most of me was relieved to not have to pack half of the house for Kera, drive several hours and spend the weekend on the go, I had been looking forward to getting away, even for a short time.

But, sitting here rested and feeling like I have my house back under control, I'm really glad that we cancelled.  We spent time downtown walking around a small festival and a nice park in the area.  I think that's the first time Kera had been downtown, so she was wide eyed and slightly overstimulated.  But she did great, and we had a fun time, as well.  Next year...
