Travels

After ten days of traveling, sleeping in beds that were not our own, opening gifts and eating too much, we are finally home!  While we had a great time, I'm not sure which of us three are the most excited to be home and for things (aka schedule) to get back to normal.
After our very mild winter last year, we were bombarded with snow that seemed to fall every single time we planned to travel.  Our trip to Maryland which normally takes 4 hours took 7.5, and was probably the worst trip (weather-wise) that I've ever driven.  The day we were planning to leave Maryland to go to northern Ohio, we were chased out a few hours early by the threat of another storm.  Luckily we got ahead of that one.  I had to come home for a few days to work, but that trip was delayed a day due to yet another storm, and then we faced snow last night as we drove home.  We had been talking about upgrading one of our vehicles to an SUV, and this trip may have made us think a little more seriously about that!
Kera did extremely well with all of the travel, though.  The last hour of our 7.5 hour trip she cried, which was also unfortunately when we faced the worst roads.  For some reason, she has always loved the ABC song.  Anytime she's fussy, just sing that song (and only that song), and she calms down.  So, I sang the ABC song for close to an hour so that Troy could concentrate on the roads.  Although, I'm not sure which was more obnoxious, me singing or Keragan crying!
She definitely enjoyed being the center of attention and opening her gifts.  Overall she did really well with sleeping and eating, and wasn't too fussy.  She got to play with her cousins and be held by grandparents and aunts and uncles and great aunts.  And even though she was held so much, she has definitely gotten much more mobile.  She had been scooting around before, but this morning she kept disappearing from sight as she went to and from different toys around the living room.
It hit me this week that I only have 2 more months until she turns 1!!!  It's so hard to believe that last year she wasn't even a part of our lives.  Time has really flown by, and she's grown so fast!
